Global temperatures should be compared on a chosen time scale such as:
    • On a 10-million-year time scale, the earth is cooling.
    • On a half-million year time scale, the earth is in a long ice age with 100,000-year global periods interspersed with 10,000-year interglacials, such as the present one.
    • On a 300-year time scale, we are still warming up from the little ice age.
    • On a 100-year time scale, we are at the second warming, the first being in the 1930s.
    • On a 30-year time scale, we are just past the peak of the temperature curve where the curvature changed from positive to negative 17 years ago.
To compare weather to global temperature is not a valid exercise.
The current hype by alarmists would have us believe that manmade CO2 is causing harmful global (warming) temperature. History makes this claim ludicrous. During the time dinosaurs lived on earth CO2 levels were 15 to 30 times those of today. During the warmer periods, weather extremes were much less than during colder periods. Finally, the oceans store CO2. As the oceans warm, as they have been doing, they release CO2. The warming comes before CO2 increases. That is, CO2 does not cause warming. Warming results in more CO2 in the atmosphere.
