The Wildcats finished third with 251 points while the Jaguars (175) came in sixth in Thursday’s COMO Invitational at Columbia, Mo. Rock Bridge racked up 414 points to top Notre Dame de Sion (281) for first. Lee’s Summit North tied for 15th with 44 points, and Blue Springs junior varsity squad rounded out the 20-team field.

South’s Bre Schlenger posted the top local individual finish by placing first in the diving with a score of 232.9. Blue Spring’s Mariah Hagerty came in fifth.

Jaguar coach Errich Oberlander said nearly all of his swimmers registered season-best times. Morgan Connors placed third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.15) and fourth in the 100 freestyle (55.55). The Jags also notched a pair of top-five relay times. The team of Bailey Barnett, Allyssa Kays, Emily Zweerink and Connors ended third in the 200 freestyle relay and the same squad teamed for a fifth-place tally in the 400 freestyle relay.

The Wildcats recorded seven top-five times in the swimming events.  Ibby Simcox led the way by finishing fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:01.11) and fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:19.15), Ashley Sturman came in fifth in the 200 freetyle (30.69) and Alyssa Aubuchon finishes fifth in the 50 freestyle (26.11). Blue Springs’ 200 medley relay squad of Simcox, Corinne Rinne, Aubuchon and Anna Juarez snagged a third-place finish. Kristin Parsons, Lindsey Meyer, Sturman and Simcox teamed for a fourth-place tally in the 400 freestyle relay and Aubuchon, Juarez, Simcox and Parsons also snatched a fifth-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.
