The city of Independence Parks and Recreation Department will host a “Starry Night Hike” from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday at George Owens Nature Park, 1601 S. Speck Road, Independence.

The city of Independence Parks and Recreation Department will host a “Starry Night Hike” from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday at George Owens Nature Park, 1601 S. Speck Road, Independence.


Hikers will experience the night sights and sounds as they walk the trails of the nature park.


George Owens Nature Park provides the opportunity for families to reconnect with nature on the 86 acres of forest, lakes, hiking trails and wildlife.


Park amenities include six hiking trails (one paved), two fishing lakes, organized group campground, ADA accessible dock, family picnic area, nature center, rain gardens and a pavilion.
