Marie Esheron Hood, 87 of Independence, MO, passed away, Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the Kansas City Hospice House.

Marie was born August 14, 1920 in Eros, Louisiana to William Archie and Ella (Salter) Hawkins. She grew up near the towns of Deering and Kennett in the Bootheel of Missouri. She graduated Valedictorian from Deering High School. She also lived in Abilene, TX, Tucson, AZ and Eldorado Springs, MO. She was devoted to her family and was a life long member of the R.L.D.S. Church. She loved to sing and play organ, and she served in any way that she could.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Neil C. Hood in 1999. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December 1990 in Tucson, AZ.

Marie is survived by her six children; Garry R. Hood and his wife Patte; daughter, Judy Vipperman; son Dan Hood and his wife Nanci; daughter, Anita Percell and her husband James; son Phillip Hood and his wife Kathy; daughter, Sherri Sullivan and her husband Michael; grandchildren, Anita Bartelle, Kendra Brown, Kenyon and Cameron Hood, Shannon and Ryan Sullivan, Bradley Vipperman, Rose Hood, Sarah, Jeremy, Justin and Aubrey Hood; great grandchildren, Meagen Brown, Jacob and Amanda Bartelle.
