The following is a list lunches being served at area community centers for the week beginning Sept. 1. All Centers will be closed Monday for Labor Day.

Palmer Center – Independence

Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. Suggested donation, $2. You may reserve a meal up to three days in advance. To make or cancel your reservation, 816-325-6200.

Tuesday: Ham/beans, spinach, corn bread, citrus cup.

Wednesday: Breaded chicken breast/gravy, stewed tomatoes, mashed potatoes, wheat bread, cherry pie.

Thursday: Chili mac, green beans, broccoli slaw, potato bread, tapioca pudding.

Friday: Chicken strips, macaroni/cheese, peas/carrots, marinated tomatoes, wheat bread, citrus fruit salad.

Fairmount Community Center – Independence

Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. Suggested donation, $2 for seniors and those on disability, $3.25 for all others. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance, 816-254-8334.

Wednesday: Cheeseburger, steak fries, salad, chocolate chip cookie.

Friday: Chicken/noodles, fiesta vegetables, salad, multigrain bread, shortbread cookie.

Vesper Hall – Blue Springs

Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Suggested donation, $2.50 for seniors and those who are disabled, $3.75 for those under 60. Make reservations five working days in advance, 816-228-0181.

Tuesday: Liver/onions, mashed potatoes, broccoli/raisin salad, scalloped apples.

Wednesday: Sloppy Joe, glazed carrots, crunchy coleslaw, pear halves.

Thursday: Baked lemon pepper cod, au gratin potatoes, oatmeal/raisin cookie.

Friday: Breaded chicken fillet, hash brown potatoes, coleslaw, sliced peaches.
