Francine L. Wheeler, 88, of Independence, Mo., went to meet with her Lord on January 27, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with Alzhiemer’s Disease, surrounded by family and friends.

Francine L. Wheeler, 88, of Independence, Mo., went to meet with her Lord on January 27, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with Alzhiemer’s Disease, surrounded by family and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Officiating Reverend Michael Josue. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Francine was born December 18, 1921, to Charles Dewey and Vaude (Queen) Hart in Southwest City, Mo. She graduated from Northeast High School. On December 30, 1942, she married the love of her life Kenneth E. Wheeler and began a journey of devotion that would blossom for 67 years. Francine enjoyed a career as a bookkeeper for a number of Kansas City firms including Armour, Helzberg’s and The Community Blood Center where she retired from in 1976 after 18 years of service. Francine and her husband owned and operated the Lazy Acres Trading Post in Edwards, Mo., before returning to Independence in 1988.
