  • The Missouri Comets will host their third annual Fan Fest from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Independence Events Center.
Coach Kim Roentved, former MISL MVP Byron Alvarez and goalkeeper Danny Waltman will be among the Comets representatives signing autographs and posing for photos with fans.
The Fan Fest will also have a unique twist as the Comets are hosting a national combine in which 60 players will be participating in a series of games at the Events Center during the Fan Fest.
“We can’t wait to see our fans,” Roentved said. “The boys are back in town, taking part in volunteer practice sessions at the SoccerDome and this our first real chance to get to see our fans here at the Events Center.
Single and season tickets will be on sale, there will be inflatables for young fans, free cotton candy and snow cones, performances by the Galaxy Girls and the MISL championship trophy will be on display.
“We have come so close the last two years to getting the chance to play for that championship trophy,” Roentved said. “Maybe this season, we can win it all and have it here on a permanent basis.”
