  • Evelyn R. Fellers, 87, stepped from this life into glory at her home on April 28, 2013.
Evelyn was born March 27, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., to George and Cornelia Phinney. In 1943, she graduated from Northeast High School and was the only girl in the school’s Woodworking Class. She achieved a teenage dream by obtaining a single-engine pilot’s license. She was a phone operator during World War II and for 27 years she served as a bookkeeper/teller at the Blue Ridge Bank & Trust, retiring in 1984. She volunteered at MCI Hospital and as an Election Day Poll Worker. Evelyn enjoyed sewing, gardening, ceramics, painting, cooking, writing handchime arrangements, woodworking, singing, and classical music. She was a faithful participant in her home church. Ever the adventurer, she would suggest taking a road just to see where it went.
Evelyn leaves her husband of 61 years, Jack Fellers; her daughter, Joy Wilson; her son, Steven Fellers (Cathy); her sister, Mary Phinney; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Saturday, May 18, at 1 p.m., the family will greet friends and family, followed by a memorial service 2 p.m., to be held at Grace Christian Assembly, 2309 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64129. Interment was at the Higginsville Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grace School of the Bible at the above address.
Arrangements: Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, 816-463-4030.
