  • Jackson County is under a hazardous weather watch for the rest of Sunday and into early Monday.
The National Weather Service has the area under a tornado watch untill 10 p.m. That means conditions are favorable for a severe thunderstorm that could produce a tornado, but there are none actually in the area now.
The storm system could produce supercells with damaging winds and very large hail - more than 2 inches in diameter.
The storms are expected to develop in the late afternoon and evening. The Weather Service says the storms are expected to merge into a complex of storms across western Missouri.
More severe storms are likely Monday afternoon and evening.
