To the editor:
Last Tuesday, my wife and I attended the graduation ceremony to see our grandson, Brandon Tuell, graduate from Fort Osage High School. This is a very big thing for the graduating seniors, and the school announced their honors as they came to the stage to receive their diplomas, except for Brandon.
He had been attending the Missouri Academy at Northwest Missouri State University for exceptional students the past two years. While there, he was on the honor roll and will receive an associate of science degree in science and mathematics June 1. He was also one of only eight Bright Flight recipients who scored a 31 or higher ACT score. None of this was mentioned as he received his high school diploma, while others were praised for lesser achievements.
I know it is a busy time of year, but like I said, this is a very important time for the students and this oversight is inexcusable. Somehow, Fort Osage should make this up to a very disappointed student.
