The contrast was stark, even a little bizarre, among reading and viewing material authorities seized at the Independence home of Burrell Mohler Sr.

In one area of the home, Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies found “Book of Mormon-Stories for Little Children” and a handbook for congregational leaders.

But in another area, they found pornographic DVD’s titled “Virtual Sexuality” and “(Expletive) Grandma and Grandpa.” They found a brown folder filled with magazine pics of children, women and animals, a green paperback pamphlet called “About the Sexual Abuse of Children,” eight pornographic VHS tapes, some titled “40 of Your Youngest Stars, Mouthwash, and Senior Stimulation.”

Authorities scoured the home at 13002 S.W. Dodgion on Friday, a search warrant in hand, and secured numerous items that belong to Mohler.

Lists of those items were released to the public on Tuesday.

Deputies removed stuff from the basement, attic and shed at the home.

Mohler and four of his sons have been accused of molesting family members in a widescale child molestation case that has gripped the region and received nationwide attention.

Deputies also executed a search warrant Monday at a rental facility in Independence used by one of the sons, Burrell Mohler Jr. They found an ax, boxes of books, a letter and a journal, photos, VCR tapes and audio tapes.
