Blue Springs residents are invited to the annual Blue Springs Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting event.

Mayor Carson Ross, accompanied by former meteorologist Peter Grigsby, will flip the switch on the tree in front of City Hall at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to celebrate the holiday.

Grigsby will televise live at the event beginning at the 6 p.m. news hour.

After the lights, there will be fireworks. In addition, visitors can enjoy hot chocolate, hot dogs, and candy canes, provided by the city’s two Price Choppers.

Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will arrive after the tree lighting via fire truck. Also scheduled to arrive and perform are several choirs from local elementary and middle schools, as well as an adult choir and an act from the local performing arts academy.

The event is sponsored by the Blue Springs Business Association and the Main Street Merchant Committee.
