The Kansas City Chiefs named Blue Springs South coach Greg Oder the Missouri high school coach of the week.

The Kansas City Chiefs named Blue Springs South coach Greg Oder the Missouri high school coach of the week.

As a result Blue Springs South will receive a $500 grant. Oder will also be presented with a congratulatory football autographed by Chiefs coach Todd Haley.

Oder is now a finalist for the Chiefs’ Missouri coach of the year award, which will be selected via internet balloting on kcchiefs.com after the season concludes.

Oder received the honor after the Jaguars defeated Lee’s Summit West 41-17. South is off to a 3-1 start and faces Raymore-Peculiar Friday.

The 2010 High School Coach of the Week program is a joint initiative of the Kansas City Chiefs and the National Football League.

This program is designed to recognize and reward Kansas City area high school coaches for superior performance throughout the year.

Gary Spani, former Chiefs linebacker, currently serves as the team’s Director of Special Events. He will be on hand each week for a special presentation to honor the recipients at their respective school.

The Chiefs Coach of the Week program is meant to recognize and honor individuals who are shaping today’s youth and tomorrow’s leaders.
