To the editor:
The current administration did a grievous disservice to American citizens. When elected, they had all the marbles and we could have had a single-payer health system. That is, all citizens covered by Medicare, expanded to cover health care 100 percent.
Nothing is wrong with Social Security and nothing is wrong with Medicare, except all citizens are not covered. It is voiced that these two systems are nearing financial trouble.
Now, if Congress cannot solve this financial problem, it is suggested that we take six bright 10-year-old children (fourth graders), give them a couple hours of information on these two systems and in a short time they could come up with a feasible and reasonable funding for these two great systems. Medicare could help those unable to pay their share of the cost.
If somehow Mitt Romney and his running mate could assure voters that they would have all citizens covered 100 percent for medical costs, they would likely win the election by a large margin.
