Comfort Dental will offer free dental care to those in need on Christmas Eve.

Dentists will see patients from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday as part of the 28th annual Care Day. Services are offered free to anyone, and patients are seen on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Nationally, about 250 Comfort Dental dentists and 1,300 staff members donate their time on Care Day. They saw more than 3,000 patients last year.

There are five Comfort Dental offices in the metro, including two in Independence: 651 E. U.S. 24 and 3908 S. Noland Road.

Though Care Day has a long history in Comfort Dental’s home state of Colorado, this is the third year for the service in Eastern Jackson County. Both years, people began lining up hours before the offices opened, and patients who arrived later eventually had to be turned away.
