Margaret E. “Peggy” Wagener, 86, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

Margaret E. “Peggy” Wagener, 86, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

She was born July 10, 1925 in Kansas City, MO to George and Jeanette (Schwab) McDowell. Peggy attended William Chrisman High School in Independence.

She spent the majority of her working years in the quality control department at Modern Plastic Molding in Independence. Peggy was a longtime member of the Stone church in Independence. In her spare time she enjoyed watching NASCAR, NFL football and following the Chiefs and Royals. In her earlier years she enjoyed the many trips she took to Roaring River with her family. Peggy loved watching her grandchildren grow up.

She married David R. Wagener on October 28, 1942 in Independence.  Mr. Wagener preceded her in death in 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Peggy Ann Wood; and a sister, Evelyn Wagener.

Survivors include her son, David Michael Wagener and wife Adrienne of Blue Springs, MO; three grandchildren, Lisa Harrison of Blue Springs, MO, Nikki DeMint and husband Todd of Parkville, MO and Shane Wagener and wife Suzanne of Grain Valley, MO; five great grandchildren, Kiley, Kole, Aaron, Evan and Avery.

A funeral service celebrating Peggy’s life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel 1600 W. Main Street, Blue Springs, MO 64015. Burial will follow at Buckner Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Thursday prior to the service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Disabled Veterans or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and may be left with the funeral home.
