The accident happened at 9:53 a.m.

According to the report, a 2008 GMC vehicle, driven by Tim M. Brown, 34, of Lee’s Summit, was going west on U.S. 40. A 2007 Dodge operated by Debra L. Cook, 48, of Blue Springs, failed to yield to Brown and crossed into the path of the GMC, striking the vehicle, according to the report. Passengers with Brown were Carter J. Brown, 7, and Kourtney L. Brown, 35.

All refused medical treatment at the scene. The investigation continues and charges are pending, according to the highway patrol.
