Lavona was a resident of Raytown, Mo. After a long life filled with joy and love, Lavona passed away peacefully at Hidden Lake Care Center in Raytown. Lavona was born in Ellis, Kan., and graduated from Golden City, Mo., High School.

Lavona was a resident of Raytown, Mo. After a long life filled with joy and love, Lavona passed away peacefully at Hidden Lake Care Center in Raytown. Lavona was born in Ellis, Kan., and graduated from Golden City, Mo., High School.

She was one of six children born to the late Beulah and Walter Allen and was the beloved wife of Clifton E. Keltner for 69 years. Lavona will forever be remembered by her devoted sisters, Bonnie Barr and Madonna Bentzien; beloved children, Mike Keltner and wife, Patty, Teresa Cooper and husband, Earl; treasured grandchildren, Shane McClary and wife, Lynn, Lori Steele, Jason McDonald, Amy McDonald; and great-grandchildren, Emily and Sarah McClary and Will and Riley Steele, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her.

Lavona loved reading a good book, quilting, collecting old dolls, laughing, being with her family, having fun with friends and teaching first graders to read. Lavona held a teaching degree in education and was a school teacher for 41 years. She started teaching in a one room schoolhouse and taught all 8 grades.  She taught in Creighton, Mo., Belton, Mo., Pleasant Hope, Mo., Raytown, Mo., and Camdenton, Mo.  She was a lifetime member of the teacher sorority Alpha Delta Kappa.

Lavona touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. and funeral services on Wednesday, Feb. 29, at 10 a.m. at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Floral Hills East Cemetery in Lee’s Summit, Mo.
