    HONORS: Top 1 percent; McCoy Medal recipient; selected as a Student of the Month by the Rotary Club of Independence; named to the Principal’s Honor Roll throughout high school; president of the National Honor Society; member of the Music Honor Society and selected as the Optimist Club Student of the Year.
    ACTIVITIES: Member of the Announcement Committee; cellist in the orchestra; member of the Concert Choir and member of the Socratic Seminar Committee.
    What advice do you have for next year’s freshmen?
    My advice to freshmen is to read everything you can. Reading opens up a whole world of possibilities.
    Who was your favorite teacher and why?
    My favorite teacher throughout all four years of high school has been Olga Burwell. She has been my focus teacher since I was a freshman. She is a great and wonderful person. I am glad to have met her.
    When you were not in school or studying, what did you most enjoy?
    In my free time, I most enjoy hanging out with my friends, playing my cello and reading.
    What college do you plan to attend and why?
    I am attending Truman State University. I really enjoyed the small campus and atmosphere there.
    What do you see yourself doing 10 years from now?
    In 10 years, I see myself as happy and a little wiser. I cannot really say where I will end up, but I know that whatever happens I will be happy with my life.
