  • Former Lee’s Summit North High School state champion McCall Christopher remains in contention after two rounds of the Missouri Women’s Amateur Championship.
    Christopher, who now plays for Indiana State University, fired a second straight 73 Wednesday and is tied for second place, two strokes out of the lead, with a 4-over-par 146 total.
    Christopher birdied the par-4 eighth hole for the second straight round Wednesday to help make up for three bogeys on the par-71 Club at Old Kinderhook. She had two birdies and four bogeys in Tuesday’s first round.
    Logan Thorp, a former Blue Springs South High School standout, is tied for 31st at 193 after shooting a 92 Wednesday. Her younger sister, Tara Thorp, is 34th with a 198 total after shooting 101 Wednesday.
    Catherine Dolan of Ballwin, Mo., leads at 144 after shooting 71 Wednesday. Defending champion and first-round leader Ellen Port slipped to fourth at 148 after shooting 77 Wednesday.
