Rainbow Center's 20th annual gala is sure to be a show-stopper, led by event chair and veteran philanthropist Colleen Foudree.
Choosing the tantalizing theme, “You Ought to be in Pictures”, the Over the Rainbow Gala XX promises all the fun and entertainment of the silver screen.
Slated for March 28, the evening auction and dinner will make use of the Cerner Riverport Landing just a short drive north of the Missouri river on I-435. Drawing nearly 400 attendees last year, the casual and festive fundraising event net more than $134,000 in support of programming at Rainbow Center and Rainbow Options. Similar attendance and contributions are anticipated this year as guests gather to learn more about Rainbow Center and bid on the silent and voice auction items procured by the event committee.
Based in Blue Springs, Rainbow Center has been serving developmentally disabled children since incorporating in 1977. In 1996, the center expanded its scope of services to reach out to adults with disabilities severe enough to prevent them from functioning effectively in a traditional supported employment or sheltered workshop setting. Rainbow Center supports more than 120 children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, learning disabilities, PDD, and other behavioral and developmental disorders. The Day School focuses on academic curriculum and therapeutic interventions while Rainbow Options provides day habilitation and day care for disabled adults.
Rainbow Center believes in individualized programming that emphasizes self-esteem and socialization in a safe and nurturing environment. The small staff to consumer ratio allows for caring, personal attention to each child and adult and results in successes in academics, therapies, and community integration. Respite care and summer programming are additional programs provided by the agency.
Tickets to the event are modestly priced at $75 per guest and are available by contacting Rainbow Center at 816-229-3869 or by visiting www.rainbow-center.org.
Corporate tables may be purchased for $1,000 for 10 guests and a special Friends of Rainbow ticket can be secured for $250, allowing admission for two guests. A social reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner seating at 7:30 p.m. and voice auction to follow.
