An Independence man was seriously injured when he was ejected from a vehicle Monday night on Interstate 70.

William E. Farrow, 31, was in the surgical intensive care unit Tuesday afternoon at Truman Medical Center-Hospital Hill in Kansas City, according to a hospital spokesman. He was taken there by helicopter to the hospital.

At 9:18 p.m. Farrow’s 1993 Honda veered off I-70 at Route F near Oak Grove. The vehicle was going west, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The car slammed into a guard cable in the median. Despite wearing a seat belt, Farrow was still ejected from the vehicle, according to Patrol.

The investigation continues.
