The U.S. Postal Service is holding a meeting on the proposed closure of the post office in Levasy. The meeting is at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer United Church of Christ.

Last month, the Postal Service released a list of 3,700 offices it will study closing, including 167 in Missouri. Levasy, with a population of 83, is the only site in Eastern Jackson County on the list. The Postal Service is trying to cut costs amid sharp declines in recent years in first-class mail as more people pay their bills online and use email, texting and other electronic means of staying in touch.
