An Independence woman was watching television alone early Wednesday morning when two men entered her kitchen and robbed her.

Independence police said the woman, who lives in the 11100 block of East Sixth Street, was sitting in her living room watching television at 12:41 a.m. Wednesday when she heard a noise in the kitchen.

Getting up to investigate, she confronted two men wearing hooded jackets and bandanas.

Tom Gentry, spokesperson for police, said the men ordered the woman to lie face down on the floor. The woman described the men as white, averaging about 5-foot-8 and between 17 and 20 years old.

“We believe both men had guns as well,” Gentry said.

The men demanded money from the woman and she offered what she had. They left with her purse. She was not injured.
