  • Blue Springs is losing another longtime school administrator.
The Blue Springs Board of Education approved the retirement of Randy Dowell, principal at Blue Springs South High School, on Monday. Dowell has been in the school district for 28 years and has been at the helm of Blue Springs South since 2008.
During his time in the school district, Dowell has served in numerous roles. This includes as a teacher, coach, activities director, middle school principal and director of at-risk students at the Central Office. He also served as principal of Valley View High School before moving to Blue Springs South.
“Randy is going to be greatly missed and has been such a loyal employee over the years,” said Superintendent Paul Kinder. “He has done everything we have asked of him during his time with the district and has met every challenge. He has done a great job, and we appreciate everything he has done. We will certainly miss him.”
With Dowell’s retirement, additional administrative changes will be made at Blue Springs South. Charlie Belt, the current associate principal, will become principal at Blue Springs South. Assistant principal Doug Mattson will become associate principal and science teacher Ryan Gettings will move into the assistant principal role.
