  • Blue Springs police are looking for two men who they say shot a man in the leg late Wednesday night during a drug-related home invasion.
Blue Springs police spokesperson Jeremy Dickstein says the men, described as two black males between the ages of 35 and 50, forced their way inside a home in the 400 block of Southwest Keystone Drive at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.
he men used a gun to force their way in and then tied up a man and his wife, who Dickstein said are both in their 20s.
The couple’s 4-year-old son was sleeping in another room during the invasion and was not injured.
Dickstein said the men, after rummaging through the house, took an undisclosed amount of money and items and then fled on foot. The male victim managed to get himself untied and went out the front door of his home, possibly trying to follow the men.
In front of his home, the men shot at him from the street, striking him in the calf of his right leg. The victim was later treated and released from a hospital.
Dickstein said the robbers were seeking drugs and money.
“This was not a random act, it was definitely drug-related,” Dickstein said. “The victim is cooperating and told us that this probably wouldn’t have happened if he had not been selling narcotics from his home.”
One of the suspects was wearing an orange-and-black NASCAR racing jacket.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Blue Springs police at 816-228-0150 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
