The Community Services League was awarded a $250,000 grant from the Hall Family Foundation that will support the organization’s Brighter Futures capital campaign.

The grant brings the total amount pledged to $1.97 million. The goal is to raise $2.5 million.

It was the largest single gift in the history of CSL, according to Doug Cowan, director of development at CSL.

The capital campaign will fund a new central headquarters in Independence.

The foundation had not been funding requests from capital campaigns recently because of the economic downturn. But foundation officials said because of CSL’s work and its successes, it made an exception, according to Cowan.
