Ruth Pierre, Kristopher Teague, Hannah Smith and Sergio N. Bichara have been selected as Students of the Month by the Rotary Club of Independence.

Ruth Pierre, Kristopher Teague, Hannah Smith and Sergio N. Bichara have been selected as Students of the Month by the Rotary Club of Independence.
Pierre is a graduate of Van Horn High School and was vice-president of the senior class; had perfect attendance and was recognized for her leadership skills.
In addition, she attended the Health Career Exploration Summer Enrichment Program for two consecutive years.
In the future, Pierre plans to attend one of the Metropolitan Community Colleges. After that, she plans to further her education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her parents are Jean Pierre and Marie Pierre.
Teague is a graduate of Fort Osage High School and was second team all-conference in Lincoln-Douglas debate; earned an academic letter and was named to the “A” Honor Roll.
In addition, he participated in band and debate.
In the future, Teague plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia to major in biology. Future career goals include becoming a neurosurgeon. His parents are Sherry and Kenny Powell.
Smith is a graduate of Van Horn High School and has been named to the honor roll throughout high school and is a member of the National Honors Society.
In addition, she played the flute in the band; was on the newspaper staff and was interested in digital photography.
In the future, Smith plans to attend MCC-Penn Valley. Then, she would like to transfer to a university, but is undecided on a possible career. Her parents are Mary and Jeff Potter.
Bichara is a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and was named to the honor roll for two years.
In addition, he participated in cross country, track, soccer, football and wrestling and was a member of the Spanish Club.
In the future, Bichara plans to attend the University of Missouri-Kansas City for two years, and then transferring to Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan. to major in architecture. His mother is Graciela C. Diaz.
