Bill Bilyeu, 80, of Lee’s Summit, Mo., went to meet his Lord and Savior Tuesday, May 26, 2009. 

Bill was born November 30, 1928 in Ozark, Mo.  He was a 1946 graduate of Ozark High School. After graduating from high school, he went on to marry his eighth-grade sweetheart, Arva Lou Winfrey. They were married on March 28, 1948 and were happily married for 62 years. Bill was a born entrepreneur and spent 20 plus years in the trucking business. He started Bilyeu Transport while living in Ozark, Mo. and then moved his business to Springfield, Mo. where he started up Bilyeu Refrigerated. As his business grew he moved the trucking company to Sedalia, Mo. where his entrepreneurial spirit took him from the truck lines industry into the hotel business. Bill purchased and renovated the Hotel Bothwell of Sedalia, Mo. He and his wife owned and operated the Hotel Bothwell from 1976 until his retirement in 1988.

He leaves behind his wife Arva Lou of 62 years; daughters Luanna Scott of Austin, TX, Lynn Banks of Blue Springs, Mo., Michele Barnes of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and preceded in death by his daughter Kathy Bilyeu. In addition, Bill leaves behind four grandchildren, Joe Uhr of Plano, TX, Jason Webb of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Waylon Webb of Raymore, Mo. and Lucy Atwood of Lee’s Summit; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, May 29, 2009 at 1 p.m with the Rev. Andrew Fortner officiating. Both visitation and funeral services will be held at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, 519 S. Ohio, in Sedalia, Mo. Final burial will be at Highland Sacred Gardens, 3600 East 28th Street, Sedalia, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
