The Indians outscored Warrensburg 16-4 in the opening quarter and went on to 41-29 victory over Warrensburg in the Marshall Tournament.

Setoa Talimatasi had 12 points and Kathleen Pau added eight points and nine rebounds to spark the Indians.

“We really shared the ball well,” Fort Osage coach Dawn Williams said. “We played real well as a team. Pau played a really good game, both offensively and defensively. It was a good start.”

Fort Osage meets Grain Valley in a second-round game Thursday night.

HIGGINSVILLE 48, OAK GROVE 44: Host Higginsville outscored Oak Grove 10-6 in the four-minute overtime for the win.

“We got behind early (12-3) and had a four-point lead in the fourth quarter,” Oak Grove coach Mike Cox said. “At some point we have to score some big baskets. In all three of our losses we have had the lead.”

Miranda Epperson’s 14 points were tops for Oak Grove. Brittany Douthitt hit three 3-pointers to score nine points. Haley Kanak also had nine.

Oak Grove outscored Higginsville 16-8 in the third quarter to tie the score 28-28 and set up the tight finish.
