Gary Lynn Hayes, 62, Independence, Mo., passed away Friday, March 22, 2013.


Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. tonight, March 26, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.


Gary was born February 26, 1951, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Earl J. and Nadine (Stanback) Hayes. He was employed with Plastic Sales (ACI Plastics) since 1973. Gary was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and the Fairmount Christian Church. He enjoyed bowling and was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame in St. Louis with an 822 Series on August 3, 1995.


Survivors include his wife, Loretta Hayes; daughters, Lori Lynch and Amanda Aviles and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Mycala Morgan, Breydon Lynch, Austin Hayes, Brianna and Carter Aviles; sister, Barbie Sterbenz and husband, Alan; brothers, Randy Hayes and wife, Trenna, and Earl Dean Hayes; and additional nieces, nephews, and family. Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
