The Independence Health Department is hosting a regional public health exercise on April 11 and is seeking volunteers – both individuals and families – to help prepare and train for a public health emergency.

The exercise will take place at Fire Station 7, 2206 Hub Drive, just south of Adventure Oasis Water Park. Volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to act as recipients of mock medications in the dispensing process.

Because the exercise will test the efficiency of a drive-through medication-dispensing process, all volunteers need to arrive in vehicles to test the system.

The first 100 volunteers will receive a gift card to a local restaurant, along with a free public health supply kit.

The Independence Health Department will evaluate several functions of the emergency plan, including notification, alert and supply requests and transport and the delivery and dispensing of supplies.

Contact the Independence Health Department at 816-325-7185 for more information.
