  • The Mid-America Regional Council is sponsoring another public open house to discuss future development along U.S. 40.
    The open house is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at William Southern Elementary School, 4300 S. Phelps Road, in Independence. Presentations will take place at 5:30 and at 7 p.m.
    Residents also are invited to join a virtual discussion regarding the Noland Road and U.S. 40 corridor at any time by visiting http://marc.mindmixer.com/. Participants should register on the site, click on the "40 Highway Corridor" tab and then answer questions.
    MARC and the communities along the U.S. 40 corridor are working together to create a sustainable vision for the highway corridor.
