  • House appropriations committees members named

  • House Speaker Tim Jones, R-Eureka, today announced the state representatives who will serve as members of the six appropriations committees that oversee the budget process for Missouri’s various state departments and agencies.

  • House Speaker Tim Jones, R-Eureka, today announced the state representatives who will serve as members of the six appropriations committees that oversee the budget process for Missouri’s various state departments and agencies.
     
    Jones named Rep. Mike Lair, R-Chillicothe, to serve as chairman of the House Appropriations Committee for Education for the 97th General Assembly. Lair also served as chairman of the committee for the 96th General Assembly. Jones also appointed Rep. Lyle Rowland, R-Cedarcreek, to continue his service as vice chairman of the committee. Rowland served in the same position for the 96th General Assembly. The committee is responsible for bills pertaining to the public funding of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Department of Higher Education.
     
    Jones also named the following House members to serve on the House Appropriations Committee for Education: Reps. Mike Thomson, R-Maryville; Diane Franklin, R-Camdenton; Mike Kelley, R-Lamar; Kathy Swan, R-Cape Girardeau; Dean Dohrman, R-La Monte; Bryan Spencer, R-Wentzville; Steve Hodges, D-East Prairie; Genise Montecillo, D-St. Louis; Tommie Pierson, D-St. Louis; and John Wright, D-Rocheport.
     
    Jones selected Rep. Mark Parkinson, R-St. Charles, to continue his service as chairman of the House Appropriations Committee for General Administration. Parkinson also served as chairman of the committee for the 96th General Assembly. Jones also selected Rep. Chrissy Sommer, R-St. Charles, to vice chair the committee. The committee is responsible for bills pertaining to the state’s funding of the Public Debt, Elected Officials, Office of Administration, the General Assembly, the Department of Revenue, the Judiciary and the Public Defender.
     
    Jones also appointed the following House members to serve on the House Appropriations Committee for General Administration: Reps. Jay Barnes, R-Jefferson City; Kathie Conway, R-St. Charles; Kevin Austin, R-Springfield; Steve Lynch, R-Waynesville; Jeff Pogue, R-Salem; Jeffrey Justus, R-Branson; Pat Conway, D-St. Joseph; Stacey Newman, D-St. Louis; Rochelle Walton Gray, D-Black Jack; and Steve Webb, D-Florrisant.
     
    Jones named Rep. Sue Allen, R- Town and Country, to chair the House Appropriations Committee for Health, Mental Health and Social Services. Allen previously served as a member of the committee for the 95th and 96th General Assemblies. Jones also named Rep. Noel Torpey, R-Independence to vice chair the committee responsible for bills pertaining to public funding of the Department of Health and Senior Services, the Department of Mental Health and the Department of Social Services.
     
    Jones also named the following representatives to serve as members of the House Appropriations Committee for Health, Mental Health and Social Services: Reps. Anne Zerr, R-St. Charles; Donna Lichtenegger, R-Jackson; Jeff Grisamore, R-Lee’s Summit; Jim Neely, R-Cameron; Nick Marshall, R-Parkville; Lynn Morris, R-Nixa; Rory Ellinger, D-University City; Jeanne Kirkton, D-Webster Groves; Sue Meredith, D-St. Louis; and Judy Morgan, D-Kansas City.
     
    Jones appointed Rep. Marsha Haefner, R-St. Louis, to serve as chair of the House Appropriations Committee for Public Safety and Corrections. Haefner previously served as a member of the committee for the 96th General Assembly. Jones also named Rep. Kathie Conway, R-St. Charles, to vice chair the committee.

    Jones also named the following House members to the House Appropriations Committee for Public Safety and Corrections: Reps. Paul Fitzwater, R-Potosi; Chrissy Sommer, R-St. Charles; Dave Hinson, R-St. Clair; Shawn Rhoads, R-West Plains; Kenneth Wilson, R-Smithville; Dave Muntzel, R-Boonville; Brandon Ellington, D-Kansas City; Penny Hubbard, D-St. Louis; Bill Otto, D-St. Charles; and Mary Nichols, D-Maryland Heights.
     
    Jones selected Rep. Denny Hoskins, R-Warrensburg, to continue his service as chairman of the House Appropriations Committee for Transportation and Economic Development. Hoskins chaired the committee during the 96th General Assembly and served as a committee member for the 95th General Assembly. Jones also named Rep. Bart Korman, R-High Hill, to serve as vice chairman of the committee. Korman previously served as a member of the committee for the 96th General Assembly.
     
    Other members of the House Appropriations Committee for Transportation and Economic Development appointed by Speaker Jones include: Reps. Anne Zerr, R-St. Charles; Dave Schatz, R-Sullivan; Dennis Fowler, R-Advance; Rocky Miller, R-Tuscumbia; Holly Rehder, R-Sikeston; Ron Hick, R-St. Peters; Scott Fitzpatrick, R-Shell Knob; Elijah Haahr, R-Springfield; Jon Carpenter, D-Kansas City; Randy Dunn, D-Kansas City; Vicki Englund, D-St. Louis; Sharon Pace, D-Northwoods; and Ed Schieffer, D-Troy.
     
    Jones selected Rep. Craig Redmon, R-Canton, to serve as chairman of the House Appropriations Committee for Agriculture and Natural Resources for the 97th General Assembly. Redmon served as a member of the committee for the 96th General Assembly. Jones also selected Rep. Lincoln Hough, R-Springfield, to serve as vice chairman of the committee. Hough also served as vice chairman of the committee for the 96th General Assembly.
    Jones also named the following members to the House Appropriations Committee for Agriculture and Natural Resources: Reps. Bill Reiboldt, R-Neosho; Bart Korman, R-High Hill; Robert Ross, R-Yukon; Glen Kolkmeyer, R-Wellington; Thomas Hurst, R-Meta; Sonya Anderson, R-Springfield; Linda Black, D-Bonne Terre; Kimberly Gardner, D-St. Louis; Ben Harris, D-Hillsboro; Charlie Norr, D-Springfield.
