Mary Ellen Lee Harms died June 27, 2009.
Mary Ellen Lee Harms, 73, passed away at her Independence, Mo. home June 27, 2009 after a courageous two-year battle with cancer, having given a lifetime of loving devotion to family and friends.
Mary was born in Kansas City, KS, January 27, 1936, daughter of Ella Irene (Johnson) and Robert E. Lee. She was a valued employee of Kmart for 25 years. She will long be remembered for her gentle touch, her unfailing generosity and her contagious sense of humor.
Predeceased were her parents, brother Robert Lee and sister Dorothy Manthei.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Louis B. Harms Jr. and children, David (Sandra) Harms, Richard Harms, Cynthia (Jeff) Cleghorn and Randal (Rose) Harms, and beloved grandchildren, Jade and Brittny Harms, Jacob (Mary) Cordry and Jewlian Cordry, Garrett, Greyson, Courtney and Chelsea White, Danielle and Alex Cleghorn and great granddaughter Hayden Cleghorn.
The family is appreciative of the support of friends, the loving care of KC Hospice and the spiritual support of Pastor Stolle of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be at Mt. Washington Forever Chapel, 614 S. Brookside, Independence, Mo., from 6 to 9 p.m., July 1. Funeral service to be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 17200 E. 39th St at 10 a.m. on July 2. Internment to follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens, Independence, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Cancer Action or St. Paul’s Lutheran Building Fun are suggested.
