The Missouri State Water Patrol over the weekend arrested 17 people for boating while intoxicated on major area lakes.
The water patrol conducted five sobriety check points on Lake of the Ozarks, Table Rock, Mark Twain, Pomme De Terre and Smithville lakes.
A total of 343 boats were stopped. Seventeen were arrested, and 17 were issued citations for equipment violations and 62 warnings were issued.
The checkpoints were in conjunction with a nationwide campaign called “Operation Dry Water.”
