  • John William Green, 81 years old, of Eastern Jackson County, Mo., passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013.
    He was born April 22, 1931, in Dalton, Mo. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1949. He was a Navy Veteran in the Korean Conflict. He retired from Herald Publishing House in 1994 after 45-plus years in the printing industry. He was an Elder attending the Colbern Road Restoration Branch Church. He loved his family and friends. Favorite hobbies were traveling, camping, fishing, wood working, kite flying and playing cards. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean (Keller) Green; his parents, Silvey and Viola Green; and his brother, Charles E. Green.
    He is survived by his wife, Sue Green of the home; their children, James and Melissa Green, Joyce and David Barnhard, Charles R. Green, and Janice and Danny Pearson; grandchildren, Tara Green, Amy and Ken Scofield, Kirk and T.J. Barnhard, Jennifer and Justin Jennings, Eric Green, Matt and Jill Barnhard, Tammy and Kyle Westerhold, Brett Pearson and Natalie Smith, and Karlie Green; great-grandchildren, Daphne, Keegan and Grace; and sister, Doris Fleming of Washington.
    A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation or your favorite charity.
