  • Elwin “Bud” Dankenbring passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at The Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, Mo.
    Bud was born in 1918 and raised in Sweet Springs, Mo. Bud was co-owner of The Blue Goose Restaurant in Sweet Springs from 1939 to 1941. In 1942, Bud went into the Army during World War II and was a gunner for anti-air craft gun during his tour of duty. He began his career with General Motors in June 1946 and retired in 1974 as Shift Superintendent of hard trim. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine, in 1985; two brothers, Ralph and Marvin Dankenbring; and one sister, Helen Ford.
    Bud is survived by two sons, Jim Dankenbring and wife, Sharon, and Ron Dankenbring and wife, Dorothy; two grandchildren, Scott Dankenbring and wife, Maria, and Deanne Edwards and husband, Zack; four great-grandchildren, Kendra and Seth Dankenbring, and Emma and Preston Edwards; three stepgrandchildren; and 4 stepgreat-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Floral Hills, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City. Burial will follow. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be directed to Ascension Lutheran Church or the Cancer Foundation.
