  • ABF: Labs make great family pets

  • Labrador retrievers are fabulous dogs. I can’t say enough good things about our 7-year-old Lab, Sweet Pea. We’ve had her since she was a puppy, and the love and laughter she has brought us completely outweighs any issues we’ve had.

  • Labrador retrievers are fabulous dogs. I can’t say enough good things about our 7-year-old Lab, Sweet Pea. We’ve had her since she was a puppy, and the love and laughter she has brought us completely outweighs any issues we’ve had. She wasn’t really a chewer or digger when she was young. However, every stuffed toy in our house has had its eyes removed. Sweet Pea loves to work with me in the flower gardens and she waits patiently for bites of carrots and zucchini when I’m cooking stew.
Animals Best Friends has two young Labradors that are looking for their forever homes. Although Labs are intelligent, they need to be trained. It is important to remember that young Labs need love and patience while being trained.
Lola is the newest lab. She is 5 months old and full of energy. Lola loves to run and play! She has a beautiful, shiny black coat and big brown eyes that are irresistible. Lola would make a great family pet!
Rita is a beautiful tan and white Lab mix who is 7 months old. She has pretty brown eyes and a sweet face. Rita had a rough start in life, but is living in a foster home learning that humans can be sweet and caring. She is a little shy when she is introduced to a new person, and for this reason ABF prefers placing her in a home without small children. Once she gets to know a person she is a snuggle bunny. Rita really enjoys being around other dogs. She is smart and is learning good house manners and some commands. Rita also knows which toys are hers and to leave items alone that are not hers.
If you are looking for a great dog to join your family and think that either one of these kids would be a good fit, please go to our website www.animalsbestfriends.org and complete an application. ABF does home visits, vet references, and two week trials. They want to be sure that the pet and the family are a good fit.
