The Steve Moore project at Missouri may be starting to bear fruit.

The 6-foot-9, 270 pound junior post player for the Tigers played a big role in Missouri’s 66-61 season-opening win Thursday over Western Illinois.

Moore tied for the team lead with nine points and grabbed five rebounds.

The 2008 Truman graduate gave the Tigers a lift in the first half with seven points, including a 3-pointer with 4 seconds left that sent the home team to the locker room with a 34-29 halftime lead.

The made 3-point shot was the first of Moore’s career in four attempts.
