  • Sean Muncy is once again a member of the Missouri Mavericks.
Coach Scott Hillman announced Wednesday the Central Hockey League team had completed trades with three different teams as the Mavericks acquired the rights to four players from trades made during last season.
The Mavericks received Muncy and defenseman Clayton Barthel from the Arizona Sundogs, defenseman Brennan Barker from the Tulsa Oilers and forward David Nimmo from the Allen Americans.
The Mavericks received all four players as part of trades that sent Mavericks’ players to those three teams in return for future considerations. All four of the players the Mavericks’ received fulfill the future considerations.
Muncy, a forward, was a member of the Mavericks for a short period of time last season.
“I’m excited to have Sean back but just because he’s with the team now doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be with us when the season starts,” said Chesterfield, Mo., native Derek Pallardy an original member of the Mavericks.
Missouri acquired Muncy in a trade with Rio Grande Valley in exchange for defenseman Dominic D’Amour, and he played in six games with the Mavericks.
Muncy, a Chesterfield, Mo., native, was then traded by the Mavericks to the Texas Brahmas in exchange for forward Todd Griffith and defenseman Steven Later.
He played in 23 games for the Brahmas before being waived and picked up by the Arizona Sundogs at the end of the season.
“We are working very hard to constantly improve our hockey team,” Hillman said. “Over the last few weeks, we have been able to do that through some strategic trades.
“Sometimes the payoff comes quickly, such as when we obtained Steven Later and Todd Griffith from Texas in February. Other times, we need to have patience like we did to complete these four deals. Next season will be very exciting, and we are optimistic that these newly acquired players will also want to play in front of the best fans in the CHL, so I expect them to be very excited when they see the Mavericks calling.”
Missouri traded two players to the Arizona Sundogs during the 2010-11 season, goaltender Bobby Jarosz and forward Karl Sellan. Jarosz was traded prior to the beginning of the regular season.
In exchange for those two players, the Mavericks have retained the rights to Muncy and Barthel.
The Mavericks retained the rights to Barker after Missouri traded the rights to Braden Walls to the Tulsa Oilers in December of 2010.
The fourth and final player the Mavericks acquired was Nimmo from the Allen Americans.
Missouri traded defenseman Chris Mifflen to the Americans prior to the 2010-11 season in exchange for future considerations, and Nimmo completed the trade.
