  • A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in Monday’s shooting death of Charles J. Dunnington.
    Dunnington, 30, of Independence, was shot at a home in the 11300 block of 11th Street in Independence late Monday night. He later died at a local hospital.
    Independence police are investigating the shooting as a homicide. No one else was wounded. No one was in custody as of Thursday evening.
    Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-8477 (TIPS) or the Independence Police detective unit at 816-325-7330 or 816-836-3600.
    Police said the call can be anonymous. Callers should receive a number from the TIPS Hotline operator to be eligible for the reward money.
