To the editor:
In a recent column, Pat Buchanan stated that the United States spends more on national defense than the top 10 other nations combined. There cannot be any reasonable justification for such an expenditure.
Former President and General Dwight Eisenhower warned we should be on guard of the military-industrial complex. Now it is obvious why he made that warning.
The current defense budget could be reduced to much less than one-half without affecting security or the military service people. To try and enact such a reduction would expose the military-industrial complex through its objections and in what form chosen to express such objections.
