John Bert Clark died Feb. 21, 2009
John Bert Clark, 65, of Independence, MO, joined his sons in heaven on February 21, 2009.
John was born November 6, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Henry and Marian (Lantz) Clark. He attended Mayfield (KS) Grade School, and graduated from Wellington (KS) High School. As a youth, he was active in 4-H, where he showed Duroc Swine and Angus Cattle. He received his accounting degree at Southwestern College in Winfield, KS in 1966. John was united in marriage to Jane Ann Schlickau on August 6, 1966. He worked for Ralston Purina, the Vendo Company, and Ram Furs before becoming the business manager for Ararat Shrine Temple in Kansas City. He worked for Ararat the past 23 years. He was an elder of Messiah Lutheran Church, a member of the Jackson County 4-H Foundation, and a former member of the Spina Bifida Association of Kansas City. He will be remembered as an avid Chiefs Fan in Section 324.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his two sons, Matthew in 2004, and Thad in 2008. He leaves his wife of 42 years, Jane, of the home; three sisters, Dolly Casko (and husband John) of Melbourne, FL, Helen Clark of Lawrence, KS, and Mary Paxson (and husband Larry) of Argonia, KS; his brother-in-law, John Schlickau (and wife Jane) of Argonia, KS; two aunts, Kate Archer of Green Mountain Falls, CO, and Marjy Cottle (and husband Fred) of South Haven, KS; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and their families. He also leaves many friends, especially his church and Shrine families.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Monday, February 23, at the Park Lawn Chapel, Hillcrest Road at 83rd Street, Kansas City. A funeral service celebrating John’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 24th, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 613 South Main, Independence, MO. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you may honor John’s memory with a contribution to the Ararat Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund, the Truman Heartland Community Foundation (4-H), or to Messiah Lutheran Church.
