  • The woman found dead in a Blue Springs motel room Thursday has been identified.
Lisa Jo Tharp (Ruttenberg), 44, of Trenton, Mo., was discovered by a housekeeper a little before 11 a.m. Thursday at the Nights Inn & Suites at 3400 N.W. Jefferson Street.
Police are investigating it as a “suspicious” death. “There were signs of a struggle inside the room,” Blue Springs detective Joe Fanara said Thursday.
Tharp had been staying in a second-floor room at the motel since July of 2012, Fanara said. The hotel is an extended stay motel, just east of the intersection of Interstate 70 and the Woods Chapel Road exit.
Fanara would not say how the woman died because of the ongoing investigation and said her death could not yet be ruled a homicide.
The police are still seeking information in the case. Call the Blue Springs Police Department at 816-228-0150 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477) with any information on the case.
