  • The elevated – but not flooding – Little Blue River flows under U.S. 40 in Independence Thursday morning. Although rivers in some parts of the state have flooded due to the heavy rain, especially Wednesday and Thursday, the Little Blue did not. The river, which is controlled by dams upstream, rose to 12.21 feet Thursday morning near Lake City and was back to 7.7 feet by mid-afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The river's flood stage is 18 feet. The river is projected to slowly fall to about 5 feet by late Monday.
