Joyce Marie Bentley, 62, of Oak Grove, Missouri passed away August 27, 2010, at the Kansas City Hospice House, the result of a tragic carbon monoxide accident.

Joyce Marie Bentley, 62, of Oak Grove, Missouri passed away August 27, 2010, at the Kansas City Hospice House, the result of a tragic carbon monoxide accident.

Joyce was born on May 1, 1948, in Mansfield, Mo., the only daughter of Willis R. and Thelma N. (Musmann) Shimel. She was united in marriage in April of 1966 to the love of her life, Gerald D. “Jerry” Bentley. He preceded her in death in 1992. Joyce was currently working on the Assembly Line at Haldex, where she nurtured many valuable friendships. She was a member of Blue Springs Assembly, where she was very faithful in her attendance and service. She was recently baptized in the Christian faith on August 15, 2010.

Joyce was a very giving person and spent many hours volunteering at Shangri-La Rehab and Living Center helping the residents with everyday activities as well as putting together scrapbooks. Out of everything Joyce enjoyed doing, she absolutely adored her grandchildren and lived her life making sure they knew how very much she loved them.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Jerimiah Bentley and recently her granddaughter, Megan Wyatt, who also passed away due to the carbon monoxide accident.

She leaves behind her family to cherish her memory, including her children, Jeanette Forsyth & husband, Jerry of McMinnville, TN; James Bentley & wife, Sheryll of Raytown, Missouri; brothers, Willis Shimel & wife, Linda of Wilson, NC, Roy Shimel of El Paso, TX; grandchildren, Ray Wyatt, Jacob Bentley, and Sandra Sindeldecker & husband, Jason; and one great-grandson, Alexavier Sindeldecker.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at Meyers Funeral Chapel. Funeral service, conducted by Reverend John Martz, will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at Blue Springs Assembly, 2501 NE Duncan Road, Blue Springs, Mo.

Burial will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery.
