  • Missouri Comets forward Geison was named the Major Indoor Soccer League’s Most Valuable Player late Thursday afternoon.
It is the second consecutive MVP Award for a Comets player as forward Byron Alvarez won the award in 2010-11.
Geison led the league with 90 points and 38 goals in the most productive year of his career.
“It is good,” Geison said. “I’ve put a lot of work in always doing extra stuff after practice. It was a surprise, but I always believe if you work hard you will get something out of it. I couldn’t do it without my teammates. The work that everybody put in was the key.”
However, he was quick to add, “I thought I would be happier. I can’t be fully happy because we did not win the championship. I would trade the MVP for the championship.”
The Comets’ season came to an end Sunday with a 9-7 playoff loss at Milwaukee.
