    Blue Springs South High School
    The Blue Springs South Speech and Debate Squad has qualified several students for the National Speech and Debate Tournament this summer in Birmingham, Alabama.
    U.S. extemporaneous speaking - Julian Bailey.
    Oratory - Ryan McCrary
    Dramatic interpretation - Reuben Hoyle.

    Truman High School
    At the Heart of America National Forensic League District National Qualifying Tournaments March 1 and 2 and 8 and 9 at Liberty and Park Hill South high schools, Truman qualified eight entries to the NFL National Tournament.
    The Truman NFL team placed first in Speech Division Sweepstakes and second in Overall Combined Speech and Debate Sweepstakes.
    Lincoln-Douglas debate - Damon Brown, second place (national qualifier).
    U.S. extemporaneous speaking - Damon Brown, first place (national qualifier); Kenyon Briggs, second place (national qualifier) and Cate Fitzpatrick, third place (national qualifier).
    Humorous interpretation - Michael Cohen , first place (national qualifier); Kelsey Shoup, fifth place; Tara Williams, sixth place.
    Dramatic interpretation - Michael Cohen, second place (national qualifier).
    Duo interpretation - Tara Williams and Rachel McGee, first place (national qualifier).
    International extemporaneous speaking - Caitlyn Wicks, fourth place (first alternate).
    Oratory - Amy Ramirez, sixth place.
    Due to single entry limitations, Brown has chosen to compete in U.S. Extemporaneous and Cohen has chosen to compete in Dramatic Interpretation.

    Raytown High School
    The Raytown High School Talking Blue Jays Debate and Forensics team participated in the second half of the Show-Me District National Qualifying Tournament on March 8 and 9 at Blue Springs High School.
    Dramatic interpretation - Emma Givens, advanced to elimination rounds.
    Humorous interpretation - Emma Givens, advanced to elimination rounds.
    U.S. extemporaneous speaking - Paige Keeton, advanced to elimination rounds; Deja Bolton, advanced to elimination rounds; Derek Baska, advanced to elimination rounds.
