• No logical reason to close Y facilities

Closing of the YMCA buildings in Independence and Raytown due to lack of membership is a bunch of bunk. I was a member for years at the Independence branch, and I can only wonder how they arrived at this conclusion.
Many a morning when I went swimming when they opened, it was difficult to find a space to park. There were other times when I went there to just exercise, and you couldn’t find a place to park. Both the east and west parking lots were full and cars were being parked on the grassy areas on both the east and west side of the building. There were times when I had to go to the Raytown branch due to pool maintenance repair, and it was basically the same way. People are not going to travel to Blue Springs from the Independence area to swim and exercise. The 24 Hour Fitness Club is sure going to benefit from this.
